I rarely give out 5 stars but this place deserves it. Every single thing tasted great. Me and my group got a little bit of everything. Spiced olives, macaroni salad, potato salad, cheese cake, baklava & 3 different types of sandwiches. The bread was crisp yet fluffy, not hard on your teeth. It was all amazing. Service was excellent as well. Oh and make sure you try the zitos sauce! I'll be thinking about this place until my next trip to San Antonio.

Love it better than any subway or other deprived wannabe sandwich places. Typical counter place, but the order is to what you want. Muffuletta is best in town, then again who know what that is here in San Antonio. Keep making them I'll keep eating them. The only thing that keeps it down is the hours it's available.

These sandwiches will have you dreaming about them days after you've enjoyed. I got the turkey sub and small soup and had to go back the next day to get it again! My husband loves the Italian sub and we both enjoyed the cupcakes. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because they don't have an option to order online and the phone number listed for carry-out is never answered.

We were in the area and were looking for a deli. This place was amazing! It was so busy but the food came out quickly and it was SO good! We live about 30 minutes away but we will now drive to the area just to eat here. Highly recommend.

We got two three-foot subs for my sub-loving nephew's 18th birthday. Everything was fresh and delicious! I had no idea what kind of meat, cheese, etc., to get. Michael, who answered the phone, asked a coworker, who suggested "the Italian." It was wonderful. Fresh bread, well-seasoned meat, and perfect meat-to-bread ratio. Actually, one sub would have been enough for the party, but I was very happy to have leftovers for several days. "The Italian" remained tasty until we finished it. As for service, Michael was super helpful and seemed to really enjoy his job. Sorry I didn't get the name of the man who suggested "the Italian" with confidence. To top it off, when my husband picked up the subs, the owner carried the food to the car. Can't beat that. I look forward to having another (regular size) "Italian" and other items on the Zito's menu.

It's been over 8 years since the last time I've eaten here...why did I wait so long to come back???? I forgot how delicious their sandwiches are. We had lunch on a Friday and glad we got there a little before noon; because the line started getting longer after we got there. The person calling out our order numbers was hilarious. If you're looking for a non chain sandwich place this is it.

Zitos is a classic. They've been around forever and its easy to see why when you visit. The atmosphere inside the restaurant gives you New York deli vibes with a San Antonio twist. If you visit at lunchtime place is always full of regulars and business people trying to grab a delicious quick bite. My go to has always been the Italian with a side of beans and potato salad. Even after going pescatarian for the last seven years, I still think about Zito's and recently went back to order the Italian, despite it, obviously being full of meat. And it did not disappoint! There's something special about their bread and the way they build their sandwiches. Beyond the delicious sandwich selection, the sides are also just as good. The beans are amazing and the potato salad is probably one of my favorites of all time. If you're in San Antonio and you've never been to Zito's, you need to do yourself a favor and head on over as soon as possible.

I freaking love Zito's. Their Serious Sandwich is so craveable!! If you haven't had it, you have to try it! It is so tasty - comes with salami, ham, provolone, cheddar, mustard, lettuce, tomato, olives, onions, spices, and Italian dressing. The combination is elite! The sandwich is massive so half a serious sandwich is still plenty for one person. It is so good with their hot sauce! I always get this sandwich, but one time I changed it up and got meatball sub. The meatballs were good, but I wish there was more tomato sauce. I wouldn't order it again just because I prefer their other sandwiches, but it was not bad. This is a type of place you stand in line, grab a number, and find a table. There will be a little of a wait (this place is very popular!!) but it is worth it every time! I'm a fan of their sweet tea also. This is def my fav deli I've tried in San Antonio hands down.

FAVORITE sandwich shop ever!! Zito's was a staple for me when I lived in SA. Now it's the first place I go when I get into town. It's so amazing! I normally order the half of serious sands which! It's sooo amazing!! And always with either the soup of the day or beans!! The Turkey sandwich is my second favorite! And don't forget to grab a dessert! The Ultimate Cheesecake Bakery makes them and they are so delicious!

It amazes me how quickly a month flies by. Today, being the last Tuesday of the month, was my day to meet with retired teacher buddies for our monthly luncheon. This month, we decided on Zito's Delicatessen. We opted for the Broadway location because one of our group has been going there for years. I sent a FB message to Zito's to give them a heads up that we were coming. I think it's always good to warn a venue that 15 old people are going to converge on the place, especially later in the afternoon when they might not have as large of a staff on hand. They responded quickly that they were happy to serve us and would try to hold some tables for us, even though they don't take reservations. When I arrived there a few minutes early, I saw that they had reserved all of their high-top tables for us. I guess I didn't myself as clear as I thought. Some of our older members either can't get up in those chairs or plain don't want to. A few of them would have to dangle their feet down, which causes some back pain for old folks. I spoke to a gentleman who was clearing tables, and he dropped everything and helped the three of us who had arrived early pull some regular height tables together. He did it with a smile- never giving any inkling that we were ruining his day in any way. Once all of us were in place, we went to the line and ordered our food. I was there for the Serious Sandwich, recommended by my friend. I thought it sounded something like a muffaletta. Boy was I wrong. The menu description says: Salami, Two Types of Ham, Provolone Cheese, Cheddar Cheese, Chopped Black Olives, Onions,Tomatoes, and Lettuce SERVED ON ITALIAN FLAT BREAD. While that is in fact what you get, the menu does not prepare you for the crispy awesomeness of the sandwich that is about to take you to heaven. I can not get that wonderful crunchy thin full-flavored flat bread off my mind. I had planned to buy a whole and bring half home for supper, but my friend talked me out of it saying it wouldn't be as good later. I heeded her advice and got the half. It turned out to be two quarters of a dinner plate sized round sandwich. It was more than enough food for me. In fact, I couldn't even eat the delicious raspberry cupcake I ordered for dessert. The messiness of the sandwich made me not want to put it down between bites. But, the way I was shoveling it in, there was no need to put it down. That crunch. That crunch. OMG that heavenly crunch! I got home with my delicious cupcake and split it with my wife. We really liked the lite cake. It reminded both of us of our wedding cake from the last century. We had a raspberry filling then, but when you took a bite of the cake part of this cupcake with the vanilla cream cheese icing and the glob of raspberry topping, it had the same mouth feel and flavor. Since I hold our wedding cake as one of the five best cakes I have ever eaten, that says a lot. Next time, I will ask where they get them. I don't think they are made in house. Okay, I can go on, but I think I made my points: great service, friendly staff, and awesome food. I can't wait to go back. From now on, when I take my wife's car for maintenance at Gunn Nissan, I'll walk the 17 minutes to Zito's for lunch, instead of hanging out at the dealership.
